JustTrains stated in their latest stream they are aiming to release the S8 by the end of the week (also Friday was mentioned). A few hours ago JustTrains made a post on their Facebook page saying the release is "imminent, very imminent". We might have a new LU stock to drive tomorrow! The following link leads to JustTrains's post which also includes a few new pictures showing the two other bumper variants for example:

JustTrains announced the S8 will not be released today because of sound issues they discovered last minute. That means it might be ready next week. To compensate the inconvinience they released the manual.

Aryan, if you can be patient and hold off of creating scenarios for the beta route you have at the moment, it will be worth waiting for the new updated route. Any scenarios you create for the old route will get broken by the new tracks.bin and signalling for sure. Hate to see anyone wasting their time, doing it all over again.

I have also thought about creating scenarios like the first train of the day using the Olympia branch like the ones in Geoff Marshall's video.

Delayed another few days while they continue testing. My hat is off to them for attention to detail and not rushing release.
Today's Twitch broadcast (7pm UK time, 3pm DST) features the S8 again. I'm sure there will be questions...

Nice to hear today - Tom (JT) acknowledged he's tested the S8 on Virtual District and "it worked". Once we get hold of it we can see what we might do to the route update to incorporate S8 features. The platform stop boards are a clear need, and we already have those assets as part of the Chiltern product, but apparently there will be route updates as part of the S8 kit. No promises but we'll see what can be done - we're all already busy!

Fitting stop boards to all our stations is a fairly simple task, other features might be needed too, I'm thinking of their tripcock device here, but all is doable. There will be a whole raft of features in this new update.

Bought it, first priority now will be to get to grips with it and build some scenarios with it to ship with our route upgrade and extension. Don't forget to enter your special discount code if you already have the London to Aylesbury or Chiltern Mainline route installed. Good idea also to uninstall the route, download it again from your account and reinstall again BEFORE you install the S-Stock. You will need both these products installed on your PC to run the new upgraded, and extended District Line.
Quote from JT by email :
Dear Sir/Madam,
As you bought one or more of the following Just Trains routes, we're letting you know that the software for all of them has now been updated.
Please see the Support pages for more details:
Chiltern Main Line: London-Birmingham
Chiltern Main Line London-Aylesbury Extension
London-Aylesbury
If you are planning to buy our new S8 Advanced add-on, which will be available later today, please note that these routes MUST be updated for the S8 to function correctly.
If you log in to your Just Trains account and click on 'Your Orders', you will be able to download the new installer(s) to get the latest software for the add-on(s) you have purchased.
Best wishes,
The Just Trains Crew

Downloaded, installed and working. Jeez, going back to read the manual.😂
Edit: I feel a bit of pity for a lot of our devoted followers that they now have to rely on another download payware route to get the VDL to run. But, as been said before, we are part timers and it's either this or many more years in development. Not only that, the JT enhancements that will come with our route will vastly improve the driving experience for all. That makes me feel better.

Got it also, and updated the Met route. Read the manual 3 times and made some notes. I'll try it this evening...
EDIT/UPDATE: Flawless install of both S8 and the London-Aylesbbury route update. I also edited our route to add the S8 into the object list that the route can use, and all the "new" S8 consists popped up - player and AI, and 3 bumper colors. I added a 7-car to an existing free-roam scenario and drove around for almost 4 hours, managing 2 SPADs due to wrongly set points. My errors.
One thing I noticed quite early - with the JT LA and S8 assets available to the route, the "9" route map now shows all the signal aspects and not just the numbers (we are using JTLU and UKpro signals), and it is nice to look ahead and see signal and points states.
I have no first-hand experience of the S Stock, but the performance as modeled is lower (or barely similar) than the D78 or 73TS. I know we got those right as we got very detailed data and videos as input, and test drives from LUL DR I/OPs. The D78 with both flags down will get to 26mph at the 6-car board accelerating from rest. The S8 takes 8 cars to get to about 26mph, even in weak field, which surprised me. Non weak field its even slower. I was expecting a little more. Braking takes some getting used to after countless hours in a D78, but works well. Top speed appears to be about 40, or 50 if weak field is enabled.
The sounds I expect are realistic - again, no first hand experience to judge. But the old guy in me prefers the click of the RPAs and growl of the Brush DC motors and pinion gears, versus the soul-less whine of the modern stocks. JMHO.
Overall a very enjoyable experience, and my congrats to JT for a job well done. I know I'll need a lot more practice before I can drive it like the D78/73TS.

[ADMIN NOTE: Discussion regarding 3rd party assets moved to Team Route Design area. Darren makes a great point above, but further discussion and plans should be a team thing. We will certainly let everyone know of any changes or reduction in prerequisite 3rd party assets once we have had a chance to evaluate in detail. Thanks!]

I saw you mention that some JT routes will become requirements in the next update. Do you mind listing which ones will be and I’ll look into buying them? Thanks

Yeah you should be fine with just London - Aylesbury.
