Well, it has to be said that you have made some truly excellent models here, which look stunning in quality. You obviously know how to texture your models too, I take my hat off to you. One of the things I'm always short of it seems is typically London housing stock, Detached, Terraced and Semi Detached. A lot of these terraced houses I'm forced to use are too uniform in layout, all looking exactly the same, whereas in reality some would have loft extensions and flat roof lower floor extensions. To my way of thinking there needs to be more variety in what I can choose from. Does it matter? Probably, is all I can say, often, I can disguise it with a few cunningly placed trees. I still seem to use a lot of IOW housing stock and London to Brighton too, though. I thought the JT LA addon might bring in a few more , but there wasn't much in there to be honest. That was a surprise, after their excellent signalling system. If you found some time to do a good range of housing stock I'd be extremely grateful indeed. Start with the facade at 23/24 Leinster Gardens and I'll use it in this next update to be included with the Wimbo to Edgware Road branch. Full credits would be included with the readme that will ship with the route.

Now that there is a confirmed TSW editor, I've already started to import some models, and I'm still learning how to use Substance Designer and UE4, however don't expect a release anytime soon. Not with just me working on this. For the meantime I'll be working on the buildings requested by virtualdistrictpway.

Thank you for taking the challenge onboard, it's probably a mammoth task, but You'll be needing similar assets on the overground section of the Piccers, so nothing will be wasted on this task. I'm glad to hear there will be an editor in TSW, because without one it would have died a death.

They've always had an editor for it otherwise Dovetail games wouldn't have been able to release their content. It was a case of "Let's make some money off this before 3rd parties start cashing in on it". They will most probably dumb it down a bit for our use but it just looks like it needs an exporter for it to port into TSW. As soon as the editor/exporter is released, Dovetail games lose the franchise on it and a large portion of future sales.
I've installed and had a look at the UE4 editor and it looks like it comes with its own built in CAD package as well as being able to import .FBX and .OBJ extensions that 3D Canvas models can be exported in. I don't think 3D Canvas has a .fbx exporter but 3D Crafter may. I managed to get my cabs into it but the amount of errors it threw up for a .obj import was a bit concerning. The model also disappeared from the perspective viewport when I zoomed in. A lot to learn, but that's a future project. I do like TSW because the environmentals and real world in it are so much more realistic. I would love to see a Underground route in it.

It will be interesting to see how easy it is. With TS we had all the files and support that 'Decapod' produced. I don't think we would have got anywhere without his work. I'm not sure he's really involved anymore. Plus, Darren you said you thought 3DCrafter was fading out through lack of interest of its creator. I have dabbled with Blender, but not sure I have the energy to go a whole new direction.
Mind you, I have also been impressed with the screenshots of the next version of Trainz. It has consistently disappointed in the past, but maybe they have got it right this time. And they have always encouraged third party contributions.

I'd imagine that DTG will make sure that anyone producing payware content will have to buy a SDK and the license money and a royalty will go in DTG's pot, so they will make even more money. Freeware content will ramp up the interest too. I'm still not sure about TSW, it always seems to leave me cold somehow. It just feels so much more natural driving a train in TS. Maybe I'm just so used to it now. Graphically TSW might be more detailed and pretty but it still feels soulless, to me at least. I can't really explain why either.

Having had another go in TSW, the elephant in the room is definitely the putrid way the sim renders the sleepers just in front of your cab. It just totally destroys the illusion for me. After 5 minutes of that I want to scream. How on earth are the consolers going to put up with that ? I was hoping it was just an early bug which needed fixing, like the blurry wheels. If that is always going to be there, then its not for me.
I fear, I won't be alone. I can't stand to watch it. I had enough of that in MSTS.

Thanks, there are still a few trees and bushes to add between the Waitrose car park and Alexander road, but its nearly there, almost complete now. I'm still filling in the scenery between here and Wimbledon Park and before I carry on with that I'll complete the furniture on the District platforms , CCTV , Help points, benches, end gates and barriers, probably more Wimbledon signs and so on, plus a few cameo animated figures along the lines of what I did at Richmond which proved popular. Then I need to fill in between WPK and Southfields, when I get there I'm done with the scenery out here.
It has been a long haul, but I've enjoyed the challenge . It's definitely been the hardest part of the whole route to capture the look of, but I'm happy with it, so far. It's been impossible to model it exactly as in real life, the terrain is just so complicated and TS doesn't really give you enough help with hugely differing levels , but I think it will suffice. Nothing is perfect, and all I can hope for is a good approximation.

A whole new world has emerged for me - not an area I'm at all familiar with, so I'm finding it all fascinating. And I have to believe it looks totally real.
Ed - I've started re-doing the decals without the tracks on them - just the GE graphics. I'm assuming you'd like the WIM road and the section from HSK-ERD done in this way? Also, do let me know when you'd like the HAMS Circle - PAD Circle road track map done, and the GRD S Circle :-)
I think with the re-dos, I'll only need to upload the revised graphic files as the other files won't change. And we can remove the decals completely in each section when we want - I'll need to do that before spray painting the terrain.
Let's continue discussion about all that in the Team area.
Amazing work on the WIM road...

Thank you Jimi, I hope you get to enjoy new pastures here............. I'm still plugging away most evenings adding what seems like an infinite number of objects, tonight I was concentrating on Richards superb rendition of Wimbledon Station. I go though here a lot and tonight it gave me goosebumps ( always a good sign ) Here are some grabs to whet your appetite, 20181102231332_1 by Dr_ Eddie, on Flickr 20181102231445_1 by Dr_ Eddie, on Flickr 20181102231608_1 by Dr_ Eddie, on Flickr 20181102231751_1 by Dr_ Eddie, on Flickr More in the developer section on your comments above.

Wimbledon Station is complete now, and I can show you the appioach in stages, this first shot displays the outer home signal gantry where you will likely be held until you get a theatre signal showing you a platform to arrive into. 20181105010902_1 by Dr_ Eddie, on Flickr The building on the right is the Magistrates Court as have passed the Waitrose Store now. 20181105010316_1 by Dr_ Eddie, on Flickr And here is what it looks like just before the platforms, building on right belongs to Network Rail. 20181105010411_1 by Dr_ Eddie, on Flickr

Tonight, I reached Wimbledon Park and although the station is still devoid of clutter, this shot gives a good idea of what it looks like now. 20181106000710_1 by Dr_ Eddie, on Flickr Coming along, just got to get to Southfields now and then do the station here properly with all the furniture in place.

I whish you can make unrefurbished D78 Stock so a can make scenarios with slam door stock

Post by Eddie on Nov 27, 2018 13:53:17 GMT
That's not going to happen I'm afraid. The unrefurb D78 is a completely different train in performance and handling and any work we do on the D78 will be to upgrade the cab and texture detail level to reflect advances in computer performance. We don't do reskins on here.

Have you guys had a look at the beta TSW editor? The track laying process is very similar and adding the source files to the UE4 editor is much easier.

That's about it.

Thanks for your continued interest to all our followers, as you can see the update is now in the second phase. There are a large number of items on our to do list, which is being actioned, but we do hope you all have a well deserved Xmas break from your computers and enjoy some time with your families over the holidays. A Happy New Year to all our hard working team members and followers out there.
When we have something to show you, rest assured you will see it here, just because it goes quiet does not mean, work has stopped. As a matter of interest I built a new scenario which uses the Standard Stock. Whilst testing it, we discovered some errors in the signalling system which hadn't been exposed before. This needed to be addressed before Jimi could get stuck into his workload. It all takes time.
