Hi all,
Just a thought/idea.
As allot of time effort and fine detail has gone into this route and the rolling stock for this route. There is a 3rd developer out there bragging about how he is going to use the Piccadilly line train from this route when its released to make his own route and include the Piccadilly with it. This absolutely makes me mad when i see other developers doing this for there own benefit. Just a thought should we make the rout copy right and refrain other developers from using the assets/rolling stock for there own benefit and greed. I think this would be a good idea as it stops others from "stealing" all our hard work for there own benefit

Usually permission is sought and credit given from any developer that uses someone elses assets. I personally have given permission from someone on UKTS to use my cabs for MSTS or BVE but I stipulate that credit is given to myself for it and that the developer stands to make no financial gain out of it as it's released as freeware. We would be totally opposed to someone using our freeware products and making financial gain for themselves. Have you got a link to where you found this information.

the post i saw was not mentioning whether it was freeware or payware so that i cannot 100 percent say was for there financial gain the post i made above was just for comparison against the whole thing. It just really annoys me that others seem to think it is ok to just take and use other peoples stuff thats all. On our website i had a really big argument with someone who used our re-skins without even contacting us to ask if it was ok so this is what gets up my back.

Obv i cannot tell the developers of certain things what to do however the post i did see i spoke to the person they said quite bluntly that "i will use the 1973 model but not include it in the package they were making" to which i replied have the got permission to even use the model i never got an answer back however i did mention to them i would be putting it forward to have the content copyrighted to refrain anyone from using it as it is people like the person who posted they would be using it without even asking what really really annoys me people seem to think it is a free for all out there.
Sorry about the rant but had to get it off my chest lol

I know exactly where you are coming from Ross, and it can be frustrating for us. Richard has produced a whole library of LUL buildings and objects that people will no doubt use to produce underground routes. That will give him and us enormous pleasure really, since LUL is poorly represented in general. I think we have used an awful lot of 3rd party content too, but we have permission from all the authors to use them for our freeware route. At the end of the day, it is a risk we are all prepared to take, in the hope that most people will derive an awful lot of enjoyment from this route. It is really part of LUL heritage in a way. Before too long, this will be the only way of pushing a D78, 73TS, or C69 around London. That alone makes it worth the risk. Just MHO of course, but the team will most likely agree I suspect.

I've personally never had a problem where someone took something without asking - quite the opposite. I've had no end of requests to use sounds, scenery objects, etc. over the years and in each case I have thanked the person for being polite and asking, and have agreed - with the simple request that they do not alter it, or seek to make $$$ off it, and that they cite the source so the originator gets credit as appropriate. Citing the source can also help others who see/hear the "whatever" and would also like to use it.
With the MSTS route and stocks (many of them!) we included a simple ReadMe that stated our legal rights and the conditions under which we would allow re-use. Never had an issue. Same will occur with this shareware route/stocks I am sure. Consider also how much 3rd party stuff we are leveraging - and we will be very careful to cite each item and author and thank all those who offered it in the spirit of shareware.
