I expect I will, but not just yet. Wait to see what others say and what impact it has. Haven't got Waterloo to Portsmouth so at least I will be getting a new route I have an interest in.

No need to buy TS2019. I fired up TS2018 and it automatically switched to TS 2019. If you go to your Library view in Steam TS 2019 will be there. Right click on it and you can select 64 bit. Otherwise it defaults to 32 bit as it was in TS2018. So is there a difference ? I'd say a big YES. The first thing I noticed on firing up the District Line is the truly organic look and rich colour palette. It is much more realistic looking than the ( by comparison ) washed out look in TS2018. Everything from the sky to the ground looks better, including the dynamic lighting. Framerates were no different , but the fluidity is much smoother. Far less stuttering on tile loads. If you haven't got Waterloo to Portsmouth, its worth getting , but no need to buy TS 2019 Darren.

I created a desktop shortcut to Railworks64.exe. That method also seems to work fine, and I see the same differences as Ed noted. I think the shadows may be a touch better too.

Useful bit of info there, I browsed the Railworks folder and found the Railworks 64 bit exe. file. Shortcut onto the desktop and bingo! no need to go into the Library at all. Jimi always gets under the hood with his spanners before me....:-). Yes, the shadows are better as well. Maybe the Scenario Editor might be a bit more stable too, we can only hope. ( I cleared out hundreds of old dump files whilst I was in the RW folder caused by the SE crashing )

I already had Portsmouth Direct, and I note there appears to be some new content in the route folder for it as a result of 2019. I've been wandering around looking in updated or new folders. I cleared out a slew of old dump files too. No updates to the Utilities as far as I can see, although the BP editor seems pretty stable in recent versions. I remember long ago when we broke it by our D78 having more controllers that it could handle :-)
Ed - worth posting some new public screengrabs of our new areas in the new glorious TS2019 colors?

Yep! Got the shortcut installed and all working fine. I think there is a marginal improvement on FPS. Do you guys run on the default anti-aliasing on the highest or select something different. I just ordered a new mobo that will allow me to overclock my i5 a bit easier.

Yes, I'll post some more screengrabs of the new areas. Today Richard, Darren and yours truly, met up at Acton Town for a private Museum Depot visit for access to the stock without the public getting in the way. We didn't waste any time in getting our cameras out.......... Great day out. I've uploaded my photos to the FTP site for general access to the team for whatever purpose they may be needed. A lot of relevant in cab pictures of everything that might be needed. All put in folders so we know which stock we were looking at. I've been improving a number of areas in the route which I felt were missing some detail. In the past because of performance issues I kept the number of assets down to slim down the hit on framerates. Now, I feel I can add some more detail, particularly on the westbound section between the bridge over the Piccers and Ealing Common Station. Removed an old loft and replaced it with security fencing and added a lot more vegetation. I ripped up the road which runs parallel to the track between Kew Gardens and the A316 and replaced it with a much better representation courtesy of the JT LA route. This now features moving traffic, pavements, and built in lamp posts which not only looks far better but allowed me to delete about 40 lamp post objects I put in before. Also did the same with the bridge over the track just before you reach Kew Gardens east bound, both these roads never had any traffic on them. In short this route has been totally reworked everywhere. You'll see extra detail all over. Here is the area in question, you can instantly see the new colour palette of 64 bit TS2019 straight away. What a long way we have come from the original Rail Simulator. It is now totally different in every respect. 20181014004651_1 by Dr_ Eddie, on Flickr

I understand your concerns and if it were that simple to do, I'd have done it. Unfortunately super elevating 4th rail track is not so easy. I tried this in some depth before embarking on the route extension and it fast became a nightmare, even though the JT track has selectable superelevation for both right and left hand curves. When I tried running a train on super elevated track, there is an enormous bump where the track returns to straight and level running. It kills the illusion. The whole team therefore decided we would not use super elevation or you'd never see the update for years, if at all. Redoing track that has been laid is not an option for the same reason. We just have to draw the line somewhere or it will not be done in our lifetimes. It's a compromise you'll have to live with. Nothing is ever perfect.

The topic of superelevation has been brought up, and patiently answered by Eddie, multiple times. Our team answer is NOT going to change and there will be no further discussion about it. Thank you.
We will be delighted to continue to show you what we are doing. The team remains passionate about creating a route that has the spirit and feel of the District Line, and we are discovering as we build the most recent sections to WIM and ERD that each section has its own character. Stay tuned for updated screenshots as we progress...
