Marvelous work. I was going to ask about how this was coming but did not want to apply pressure. I know this is for the District Richard/Eddie but how difficult to make up a Metropolitan P/O stock Cab to go with it now you have the basic body. Great to run on the Uxbridge line. Many thanks for the hard work. Mike

I can hear the sound and smell the smell. Takes me back to when I was a bogie-muncher! Recreation ground @ Strand-on-the-Green in Chiswick.

You wouldn't know unless you looked at them hard but there are many significant differences between the CO/CP and R stocks beyond two trains with flared sides. So it wouldn't be instant if it was planned at all.

Hi Xavier, Understood, I promise not to count the rivets if it was done, Though I know how accurate you chaps like to be. The work is stunning. Mike.

I recall way back when our MSTS R49 was "converted" to a CO/CP by just moving/changing the destination blind and set number :-) Red CO/CP, silver R49. They are likely still up on UKTS.
Today I'm sure our goal is to create a quality version of the R49 in as much detail as we're able - as Xavier notes, there are many subtle differences. This one will certainly bring back many memories for a lot of folks.

As the P stock ran on the Circle, East London as well as the Met such a fairly simple conversion would be great!

Here's what we achieved way back when, with pix and screengrabs taken from the [MSTS] R49 Motorman's Guide I wrote back in October 2007. Yikes - we *have* been at this stuff a while... :-)
Here's the real thing. Red CO/CP on the left, silver R49 on the right. You can just make out "1/72 CP" on the lower offside front of the CO/CP, which I believe indicates the most recent major overhaul. So this is likely early/mid 70s at Upminster.
Here's our rendition of the scene in the sim.
And a silver R49 leaving ECMDTW with a very reasonable rendition (at the time) of 'District Dave' Maloney at the controls.
The level of graphics quality and detail some 13 years later is somewhat noticeable :-)

The X tracks look a lot worse than the train. It took me a week to lay the High St Kensington layout in MSTS, and I ripped it up 3 times in disgust. Joining track pieces was a nightmare. How far we've come is astonishing.

Hi Eddie ,Richard, Might we have an update, Many thanks, Mike. Hi Mike.
Not much more we can show on this at the moment.
The team's efforts have been concentrating on the T/OP Man EC scenario pack most recently, and Eddie and Jimi have begun working on the track for Phase III.
However, Richard is steadily working on a cab model to go into the R49, and I've had a dry run with new sounds using the model as it stands. I think it sounds really good at the moment but it is likely to change when the scripting is rewritten and I've had some feedback from ex-District Line drivers and engineers.

Really looking forward to this! I can see some heritage and period scenarios coming on in the future, plus they'll be useful as AI traffic on the 1960s Waterloo Suburban route at Wimbledon.

Same I'm afraid. Richard is still working on the R49 cab when he can. As such I have taken over building stations for the lower circle, in between doing stuff for DTG.
There'll definitely be screenshots of that when possible.

My work on the lower Circle (track properties, signals, tunnels, occlusions) is done for now while the stations get built. As soon as I can get access to the R49 cab and the related controls I can do all the physics, blueprints, map controls to simulated systems, LUA code, audio, etc. So we do have plans and goals, but things have to happen in a specific order. As Xavier notes above, Richard is working on the cab as best able and we will get there in time. The R49 is a favorite of all of the team and we want to do it justice. Meanwhile Phase III creation continues also. I'll post a note about that in the near future to bring you all up to date on our progress.
