Hi Jimi, I have been messing around "Down the drain" and wondered if there was any work planned for Phase three. I have found a minor signalling problem at the Earls Court and Gloucester road approches. While following a service ahead I find myself spading at signals A663 and A669. The speed limit is 35 here but there is no warning at signals A661 or A669 as they are both single red or green aspect. Could you twin aspect A661 and A669 so we get a warning as the tunnel curvature precludes sighting even for emergency brake. Comeing the other way Westbound we may have similar problems while closely following another train when the line is oneday extended East. ( Though at the moment reversing at Gloucester Road I do not catch up to a preceding train until Barons Court due to the time to reverse).
Thanks for your time, Mike

As far as I remember from my days spent driving on the excellent BVE Northern line the signals made heavy use of yellow/green repeaters on blind curves. At the time we laid the extended track for the Piccadilly into the "pipe" at Barons Court, this was signalled as a bare minimum to get the trains running so you could have a taster of deep tube operations. We didn't have accurate scale drawings of this extension. It was sheer guesswork on my part where the track actually goes to avoid obstacles etc etc. It was never intended to be used for such minimum headway as you describe Mick.
At this time during Phase III there are no such plans to work on the Piccadilly though. Things have changed as to information we now hold, so one day it might be more accurate, but don't put it under too much scrutiny for now, because , as you have found, there are holes in it.

Hi Eddie, Absolutly no criticism intended, I do realise the tube parts were done for the experience not accuracy. If I drive at 20 mph I can just stop in time seeing the train ahead in the platform. It makes an interesting scenario for the 73's and 38's if you own them. I was just hoping Jimi might find time for a tweak! All the best , Mike

No problem Mike. We admire criticism from all quarters, and the rest of the Piccadilly Line that you see whilst driving the District is accurate. Jimi has certain plans to extend the Piccadilly to Rayners and Northfields and we may well extend further eastwards as well. In that case you can expect far more accurate to real life signalling, but I've no idea of when that might be.

Hi Mike! Firstly, please comment/critique anything anytime. We are always receptive, and although the team tests extensively we are sometimes too close to see the odd glitch.
I will absolutely bring the existing pipe signaling up to par as part of Phase III. As Ed noted, we now have detailed scale data for all of the Picc so we can make BAR pipe eastwards through the city accurate. We also did that section before JT released their latest set of tunnel signals. Part of my work as part of Phase III upgrades has been to replace all tunnel signals route-wide with these, so we can now signal everywhere accurately. It's important to us too. LUL designed the route signaling a certain way for a reason - usually small headways and safety.
As an aside, I just fixed the signals around ERD so all the siding and platform moves and reverses now work as LUL intended :-) So that will be in Phase III also. Per Eddie above, we don't have a guess at a date yet. Things go very well, but station building takes time and we're currently at Temple still heading east.
Thanks as always for your support and interest!

Hi Jimi, Many thanks for that, I will re work and release the scenario I was playing with after phase three published. Cheers , Mike
